Can you automate sourcing?
Does anyone know if it is possible to automate the sourcing process? I have been reading a lot about artificial intelligence and automation in the recruiting industry lately, and I am wondering if you could replace a full-time sourcer with a software program or algorithm. Instead of paying a person to scour LinkedIn and the internet for hours a day, could you plug search parameters and keywords into a software program and allow a machine to do the finding for you? What do you think?
Automation of sourcing cannot be done.
Simply plugging search parameters and keywords into a software program and allow a machine to do the finding for you cannot be done since a person might manipulate the data and you may end up hiring a wrong person.
For example you might be looking for a marketing person to sell automobile spare parts. But if you set a parameter and search - the search result may return people selling cars / lubricants etc.
I take a little different approach on this subject. I post employment branded videos as much as I can within targeted talent communities, to my LI network, and in my email solicitations. I also have my hiring managers do the same. By leading with the culture, the company, the project, etc, I don't have to do near as much selling on the back end.
